No Thank You – You Take It!

It would appear that these words were spoken by East Providence this past weekend, after stumbling at home with a 0 – 0 tie against New Bedford Sports in the next to last weekend of the season. With this tie, culminating with Taunton Eagles’ victory (2 – 0) versus Lindo’s Soccer Team, East Providence may have said goodbye to their hopes of repeating as LUSA Champions.

As for the Eagles, after a very slow start that saw them in 7th (seventh) place after week 3, have steadly been climbing up the standings showing tremendous poise and character. This is the reason that the Eagles have been LUSA Champions 6 out of the last 7 years.

Other scores from week 21 saw Fall River Sports fight off a gritty, 10 man Clube Recordações in a exciting 2 – 3 match. It was Benfica WP breezing past Taunton Sports 6 – 1; Lincoln Club squeaked a 2 – 1 victory against Cranston PC and, Lusitana Sports played to a 2 – 2 draw.

Week 22 will be the last fixture of the year which will decide who will be LUSA Champions in 2011. Lindo’s Soccer Team will have a say on the subject Saturday 10/17 in their match vs. East Providence and Taunton Eagles will try to regain the title on Sunday (9/18) morning in Cranston against the local team.
